Why Grow, Why Now?

For almost 40 years, the people of Cass and St. Joseph Counties have trusted Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services (DASAS) as a respected resource, offering hope and healing to women and children devastated by domestic abuse. Current funding sustains our existing operations. However, the cost of maintaining the shelter in a building that more than 175 years old increases each year. Without significant updates and repairs to our shelter, our clients face an uncertain future. While Hillmann House’s current shelter provides a haven for many victims of domestic abuse and their children each year, we can and must do better to ensure our clients have a safe home.

Through the continuing generosity of Three Rivers First Presbyterian Church, DASAS now owns Hillmann House. Our shelter, a haven for thousands of families seeking safety, can serve even more through these needed renovations. We want to increase our capacity and accessibility and provide much-needed enhancements in design, security, and amenities.
